in my eyes, until here
in my own house
I felt truth filling my sight
~ Lalla
This retreat will be an opportunity to nourish your connection to your inner life, replenish your resources and gain insight into what is truly meaningful for you. In the sacred company of women, we will dive deep into the breath and the inner body, explore the nature of our minds and emotions and learn skillful ways to navigate this ever-changing experience of being human. The afternoon will include periods of yoga, meditation, loving-kindness practice and an exploration of working with difficult emotions. Suitable for both new and experienced practitioners.
Instructor JANICE GATES: Filled with wanderlust and a quest for truth and freedom, Janice set off for Asia in 1988 where she found her way to a ten-day Vipassana meditation retreat in Thailand. It was here that she discovered the power of meditation and was exposed to the practice of hatha yoga — she has been integrating the two ever since. For the past nineteen years, Janice has continued to explore both soma and psyche and how the body and mind reflect and affect each other. She currently teaches at Spirit Rock Meditation Center, as well as at retreats around the world. Janice is founding director of the Yoga Garden, has served as President of The International Association of Yoga Therapists and author of Yogini, The Power of Women in Yoga.

Embodied Relationship
6 Saturday Afternoons, 1:30-4:30pm
March 13th, 20th, 27th and April 10th, 17th and 24th
$55 individuals / $100 couples per class (must sign up for series);10% discount if paid by February 7th
Using practices for embodied learning, we will learn how to sustain satisfying relationships, break through stuck patterns and deepen intimacy.
When we identify what is important and move toward what we want in relationship, opportunities as well as limitations naturally present themselves. When we open to the truth of who we are within the context of a conscious relationship, we create increased possibility for contacting others. As we develop increased contact, we feel more trust and more trust leads to more generosity. We can then celebrate our relationships in ways that increase self-understanding, trust, generosity, etc., and offers the satisfaction of competence, connection and communion.
Each of these classes will facilitate the embodiment of an essential capacity necessary for the creation andmaintenance of satisfying, long-term relationships. We will begin with the capacity for self-reflection (mindfulness). And will then focus on truth, contact, trust, celebration and generosity. Each session will build on the last so that participants create an embodied template for loving relationship.
Information on relationship dynamics and the structures for transformation will be presented in each class. Mindfulness-based verbal and movement practices will be used to increase awareness and understanding, as well as to try out new ways of being.
