BODYWORKS NEWSLETTER – SPRING/SUMMER 2008

Greetings,

I’m fresh back from the International Association of Yoga Therapists Annual Conference and aware of how much I enjoy spending a few days with a large group (500+) of like-minded yogis whose mission is to support research and education in Yoga and serve Yoga practitioners, Yoga teachers, Yoga therapists, health care professionals and researchers worldwide. This particular forum is to bring forward all the latest research that is being done around the globe using yoga techniques to help people reconnect to themselves and their innate wholeness, which many times relieves their sufferings (chronic pain, headaches, anxiety, etc.) and to discuss how to go forward into the mainstream system and keep the soul/spirit of Yoga intact.

Honestly, I came home feeling very clear that BodyWorks-Integrative Yoga and Stress Management Center is offering, through its dedicated teachers, a wonderfully diverse, yet fully authentic delivery of Yoga to our much-loved community. Postures (Asana) are only one of the many tools of awareness that yoga offers. There have been a lot of studies on the breathing practices (Pranayama), the hand gestures (Mudra), the use of sound/mantra (Nada), the guided imagery (Bhavana), the simple practice of creating intention/affirmations (Sankalpa) and many benefits shown just for the community aspect (Satsang) alone.

As spring progresses and we move into summertime, I hope we will all be feeling the full expansion of light and love in our lives. It is true that we can find the joy of being alive in every moment despite the chaos and fear that threatens us on the external level. Please recognize that the practice you do to create that joy in your life does ripple out and help others and our planet as a whole.

Check out the wonderful offerings this time around and be sure to check out what’s changed in our regular schedule!

Namaste,

Jean
